Happy New Year everyone! I feel things are just on a positive turn, at least in my life and I hope collectively we all have good things in store. YAY!
I arrived home from visiting my children and grandchildren this week and am now catching up on life I missed home in Jackson.
I came home to a broken camera due to my 5 year old throwing a tantrum and hurling it at her brother. Yes life, indeed, has challenges for us all, but overcoming those challenges brings great growth and strength to our being.
She is certainly happy I am home and it is great to be back.
I will be doing some writing on non toxic cleaning this winter. I know it seems odd to write about a spring activity in January, but I confess, I spring clean in winter, while I am most cooped up and see what needs done most. I also feel that what I do share, will help others that want to tackle their cleaning needs whenever!
So stay tuned for that.
What I want to share today is something I felt was special.
One of the greatest learning experiences I encounter is from other people and their experience.
Today I was working at our hometown herb store when one of the originators of the business came in. She is 73 now, and has retired from the herb store for several years. I love this woman, not only is she strong and active, but she was one of the original wildcrafters here in the time frame people can remember. She and I on occassion get together for tea and a visit. Once she spent time talking to me about how when she needed a plant, and could not find it, she would ask her pendulum and it would lead her where she needed to go. In her kitchen one day, she wanted to demonstrate her technique and asked the pendulum if I should see it, to which it went crazy spinning around. It was fun to see her do this and that the pendulum wanted me to.
So, this woman I refer to came into the store today to purchase some needs. We were talking about our holiday festivities and all and she told me she had been doing more creative writing lately. fabulous!
She went on to share how her energy level is best in the morning (like mine) and that she always wanted to be responsible and get her tasks and cleaning and errands run while she was most energized. However, and I know this by experience, when you focus on getting things done in your energy peak, one is often tired in the afternoon.
I love what she said, and this is what I leave you with.
(keep in mind she is 73 years old)
She said, I am finally giving myself permission to pursue my writing. I spend a couple hours in the morning when my energy is best doing this while there are dirty dishes in the sink and cleaning needs to be done waiting me. It is hard but I am doing it!
YAY!!!! I love this crone wisdom and wanted to share.
Have a blessed week everyone!
She sounds like an awesome lady, much like yourself!
ReplyDeleteAlways good to see a post from you, so thank you for sharing. =)
Thanks Lyon!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!!!
I love that area. There are alot of wonderful, tough, and wise women there. My moms family settled in the area in the 1800's. I am posting a history written by the women of my family on my blog if you are interested.
