Never Doubt the Healing of a Traditional Poultice

Poultice is a funny word that many people just tend to ignore considering there are so many herbs on the market already prepared in tincture or capsule form that are easy to take when one is totally under the weather. These indeed help the situation, but what is one to do when the chest is full of hard mucus that sits there, leaving one panting for air at the slightest movement?

Well, if you are by yourself, this is not the easiest task when you feel badly, but sit down and do most of the work. It wont take long and hopefully you will get through the process with the goal in mind of feeling better.
Take an onion and slice 1/4-1/2 of it and saute on low heat with a fat of your choice.
Once the onion is golden and translucent, add some water and simmer a minute, then add in a handful of cornmeal. Stir to thicken the onion mixture and spoon onto some flannel. Old baby wipes or baby blankets are really useful here.
Put another layer of flannel on top of the poultice mixture and take it with you to bed. Once the heat is has cooled to tolerance, place upon your chest, and cover up with as many layers as possible to keep you and the poultice warm. Once the poultice is cooled, discard.  You will notice a change in how your chest feels, with easier breathing and a weight off your body you will appreciate.
A lung formula in tincture would be good to continue using to keep loosening the stuck mucus in the lungs. You may find yourself coughing more, but this is a good thing, releasing all that trapped yuckiness to free yourself.
You may want to do this again later in the day or for a couple days depending on how badly you have congestion in your lungs.
Often one application will do so much good, that it will get things off to a great start in your recovery.
