3/4 cup birdseed
1 envelope of plain gelatine
1/4 cup water
ribbons and bakers twine
Mix together 1/4 cup water and 1 pack gelatine in a small saucepan. Simmer and stir until gelatine is dissolved.
Take off heat and add 3/4 cup birdseed.
Mix well and cool
We put wax paper down for each child and they chose their cookie cutters and began to fill them with the birdseed mixture.
After one cookie cutter is half way filled, we added the ribbon they chose making a loop to hang the feeder from.
Fill the rest of the cookie cutter with bird seed mixture, packing down well.
Allow them to dry overnight and we found out, a couple days might be even better during a rainy season.
Unmold and hang.
We hung ours near the deck so we could see the birds if we were inside.
This can be a messy craft, since the birdseed can stick to hands and will fall all over the place with little ones, but clean up is super easy and definitely a fun creative project we will do again this winter.
